Supporting Young People’s Language Education Since 2013

Foreign Language Scholarships

The Yücel Cultural Foundation Foreign Language Scholarship helps young people strengthen their education, career and international development opportunities by learning a foreign language.

Applications Are Open Throughout the Year

Applications are assessed periodically. Result dates, quotas and current scholarship amounts are announced for each assessment period.

For Ages 18-29

Applicants do not need to be university students.

Applications Throughout the Year

Applications are submitted online through bursverenler.org and remain valid for one year.

Level-Based Support

Support may continue at the next level in the same language when the achievement and attendance requirements are met.

How Does the Scholarship Work?
Level-Based Support for Language Education

The Foreign Language Scholarship covers the portion of the language course fee determined by the Yücel Cultural Foundation. Any amount above the current scholarship limit is paid by the recipient.

The applicant selects the foreign language they wish to study during the application process. The selected language cannot be changed after the scholarship is awarded. Support may continue at the next level in the same language when the required achievement and attendance conditions are met.

The scholarship is not limited to one academic year or a single level. However, continued support at each level depends on meeting the achievement, attendance, documentation and current programme requirements.

Assessment, Main and Reserve Lists
Selection and Award Process

Applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee in line with the announced quota. The assessment considers the completeness of the application, the applicant’s language-learning goals, motivation for development and compliance with programme requirements.

Main and reserve lists are published through the relevant results channel. Recipients on the main list have three months to submit the required documents and choose their education provider. If this period is missed, the scholarship may be transferred to an applicant on the reserve list.

Applicants on the reserve list should monitor their current status through the published lists and their bursverenler.org accounts.

Recipients who fail to meet the minimum attendance requirement may be required to repay the scholarship amount provided. Absences resulting from documented health conditions are assessed separately.

The current achievement threshold and any achievement-based additional support conditions are announced for the relevant academic year.

For detailed provisions, review the Foreign Language Scholarships section of the Scholarship Regulations .

Scholarship Amount and Payment
How Is Payment Made?

The Foreign Language Scholarship amount for each level is determined periodically by the Board of Trustees of the Yücel Cultural Foundation and announced in the current notice.

The scholarship payment is made directly to the language education provider upon completion of the relevant level, against an attendance and achievement report and an invoice.

Any part of the course fee exceeding the current scholarship amount is paid by the recipient. Where the current programme includes achievement-based additional support, its conditions are announced separately for the relevant period.

Amounts May Change by Period

Amounts announced for previous academic years do not create an entitlement or payment commitment for future assessment periods.

Choosing a Language School
Can the Recipient Choose Their Language School?

The recipient may choose the language school they wish to attend and inform the Foundation of their choice. The selected provider’s programme, invoicing process and attendance-achievement reporting must comply with the Foundation’s payment requirements.

The amount covered by the Foundation is limited to the scholarship amount announced for the relevant period. Any fees above this amount are paid by the recipient.

Undertaking and Additional Documents

Successful applicants are required to submit a signed Foreign Language Scholarship Undertaking and any other documents specified for the assessment period.
